Are We Sick Of These Puppets?

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

I think these pictures from Avenue Q’s Mock Presidential Debate speak for themselves. (Though these pictures are nowhere near as entertaining as watching President Clinton trying his best not to feel up a puppet.)

But I wonder about the Secret Service agents pictured here. If a lone gunman had taken a few shots at Rick Lyon’s hand, would these interns-cum-enforcers drop their umbrellas and dive into the line of fire? If not, wouldn’t they be breaking character?

And are we sick of these puppets yet?

Hellhouse

Tuesday, September 21st, 2004

More news for the California crowd. Those in the area should check out our friends the Hunger Artists’ annual Madame Guignol Halloween show, themed this year as a Hellhouse.

More than a few of the author names on that page should be familiar to you; Kelly, Jason, and Emily are all Summer Cabaret at Yale veterans. So am I.

But wait, I’m on that list of authors, too? Mike has been writing? Yes indeed, this show will include all-new work from yours truly. More details to follow.

Also don’t forget to check out the Couchophilia pictures from their Couch Potato Comedy Festival. Ooh la la….

My Tuesday Three Years Ago

Saturday, September 11th, 2004

I remember a lot about my Tuesday three years ago today, but I don’t remember this:

Ibert: Divertissement. Date Added: September 11, 2001

I have no idea how this classical composition ended up in my Wish List, especially with that date stamped on it. I don’t even know who Ibert is.

I don’t remember browsing Amazon on a day when CNN.com and Yahoo were barely functioning. Indeed, I may have been browsing the night before, after midnight. But why that CD? And why a Wish List which I never use, and only rediscovered a few weeks ago?

These may not be the most pressing September 11th-related questions you can think of, but I am discomforted nonetheless by this hole in my memory.
