Can’t Give Her X

Once again, I have an X in my outline. For my outline to I Am The Devil, I put in sentences like, “Kim wants to go to Africa, but needs X to do it. But Gabe can’t give her X because PERSON may find out.” Situations first, details later.

And now I have an X again while working on the Marley revision. Is this stupid? These plays aren’t algebra formulas. Is obsessive outlining and solving for unknown quantities too inorganic for playwriting?
